Relateful Gathering explores the question: how do we step into more alive, mindful, and loving ways of being together?
If mindfulness is the cultivation of awareness, Relatefulness is the cultivation of awareness interpersonally. Practicing Relatefulness is a frontier where any modality that explores the interpersonal space is included.
This afternoon will focus specifically on FLOW.
Flow is a practice with roots in Circling but an expanded inclusion. Flow can look structureless which can be quite intense for people to experience OR can feel as natural as seeing an old friend. In normal life we rely on seemingly infinite conversational traffic norms that can feel like “politeness”. We don’t specifically set out to upend or disrupt these norms but seek to shed the limitations of thinking, “everybody needs to take a turn,” as well as “anything that looks like structure is wrong.”
There are no specific rules but you will notice people’s cultural norms creating clusters of behavior that look like implicit rules.
One thing that always happens is that we will all get in-the-moment feedback on what it’s like to be together. Another thing that always happens is we will appreciate exactly what we create. If you have the thought, “If I was leading this I would _____.” No one is explicitly stopping you from creating that in this space. People in the space may or may not be enrolled but this dynamic assuredly will help us meet each other more.
The benefits of this practice are innumerable. From feeling alone in a crowd to navigating family dynamics the practice of Flow promotes a fluidity that seems to promote peace around concepts of Love, Truth, seen-ness, expression, and listening.

THINGS TO NOTE:
-There are liability and code of conduct waivers for this event to protect the beautiful building and ground we are holding it on. I will have physical copies at the event, so arrive early to sign and settle in. Code of conduct: https://www.sacredrootsnc.com/code-of-conduct Participant waiver: https://www.sacredrootsnc.com/participant-waiver-for-stone-cabin-creek
-The term “safe space” has come up a lot recently and this event is more like real life, a “brave space”. There are no guarantees about how you will be received by the group. If you want a certain kind of reception then you are empowered to create it. You can bring anything you want as long as you’re ready to see how it impacts the group. While this could look like low cost group therapy, in my experience, people who come this event need to be secure in their adulthood and take agency to say yes and no. While I will be guiding the group this practice requires agency. Feel free to come and leave if it's not what you're needing.
Here’s some videos I made that can show you a bit more of kind of awareness I’ll be bringing.
Who are we?
I’m Michael Blas and I have been practicing and leading Relatefulness for 10 years in some form or another. I have a Masters Degree in Industrial Psychology and do Relatefulness based coaching with groups, couples (including parents and their adult children), and one-on-one private clients. I am the creator of the The Relateful Company’s Flow Facilitator training program.
I am also an instructor for the LevelUp Relatefulness Facilitator training (https://www.relateful.com/level-up-today).
I’m James Dial and I think Michael is awesome, he’s trained me since I was a baby relator all the way back in 2018. I’ve been described as “a facilitator who radiates the warmth of an open heart. He has a sincerity, honesty, and acceptance of what is here, which creates an atmosphere of presence, trust, and playful aliveness.” I also facilitate part time for the Relateful Company, and work in leader and team development for a Manufacturing plant in Charlotte.
