About the event
Experiential Group for Inner Healing and Self Actualization based on Eugen Gendlin's Focusing process and Empathic Reflections.
Focusing is a process grounded in experiential listening; it is a powerful way of interacting with innate body-felt knowing, and allows access to deeper levels of awareness, wisdom, self-guidance, opening the path for inner healing and personal growth. More about focusing here: https://focusing.org/felt-sense/what-focusing
Empathic Reflections are personal experiences shared in the group about what comes up while witnessing other people's processing; they are not comments or interpretations about someone else’s process, nor direct feedback, suggestions and advice.
What to expect:
We start with a brief grounding and contemplative practice followed by a group focusing exercise; using our somatic awareness, we notice our bodily responses and reactions, and instead of letting go, we engage with what comes up with curiosity and openness.
Next, the group holds space for someone wanting to go deeper with their inner work through focusing, assisted by the group facilitator. The session is followed by empathic reflections. Depending on how many are sharing and how much time is needed for this, we may continue with another focusing session, also followed by empathic reflections. The evening concludes with time for integration and mindful connection.
There is a direct processing happening for those going through the individual focusing sessions, and an indirect processing for those holding the space, both with potential for deep healing, self-discovery and growth. This practice can be very powerful, as it taps into our ‘murky waters,” catching what is not yet known or clear, and bringing it up into our awareness. This gives the opportunity for mindful engagement with significant content that might have influenced our actions, decisions, and course of life without us even knowing.
With a Holistic, Integrative, Trauma-Informed approach, this work cultivates Somatic Awareness, Authentic Communication, Connection, Co-Regulation and Self-Regulation within the safety and support of a non-judgmental and compassionate circle.
The group promotes respect and unconditional acceptance of one’s inner experience, desire and readiness for processing and carrying forward.
